I’m still fangirling inside, but, as this gif puts it so eloquently:I was actually very hesitant to start this at first, because I don’t really game, and I didn’t really like 何以笙箫默, so it was like, what if I’m stuck reading a 300+ paged Chinese book I don’t really like again? These days, beauty nearly always belongs to Mary Sues – *cough*America Singer from The Selection*cough* – and I did kind of briefly panic that her beauty would mean she gets everything her way just because everyone is too busy drooling over her.
心直口快的猴子酒说：“我想起来了，芦苇微微，不是真水无香的前妻吗?” 队伍里顿时安静了，气氛有点古怪。微微正要说他们是为了PK大赛结婚的，就见奈何很淡定的打出一行字：“嗯，你们三嫂她以前所嫁非人，大家不要歧视她。” 微微被薯片呛到了。The story opens with 微微’s husband, 真水无香, divorcing her for 小雨妖妖 because 小雨妖妖 was voted the most beautiful female player (in real life) in a poll. Thus, the love interest, 一笑奈何, offers an even more extravagant wedding (despite the two just having met) if she marries him instead – so they can win the couple PK tournament.贝微微从洗手间里出来，走到自己的电脑前，就看到这么一副景象，红衣女侠的周围重重叠叠挤满了人，但是很有默契的在女侠周围空出一个圈来，让女侠孤独的，背影凄凉的站在中间。然后周围那些人头顶不停的冒出字来，频率最多的是——“支持芦苇微微抢亲！支持芦苇微微抢亲！支持芦苇微微抢亲！支持芦苇微微抢亲！支持芦苇微微抢亲！支持芦苇微微抢亲！支持芦苇微微抢亲！支持芦苇微微抢亲！” 微微目瞪口呆。她不过是上了游戏，然后站在朱雀桥上，然后去上了个厕所，最多不过五分钟，发生了什么事了?<…>这时好友栏又跳起来，微微点开，来信人是真水无香。他大概也有点火了，语气并不客气。“怎么回事，你昨天不是很爽快吗？而且我也给你补偿了，你自己不要的。” 微微欲哭无泪，无力的敲字回过去：“同学，我只是来……看……热……闹……而……已……” And then, stuff happens, (fantastically funny stuff, but you’ll have to read it to find out,) and they fall for each other. (view spoiler) = =" (hide spoiler)>The greatest strength of this book, however, lies in how utterly unrealistic it is. Obviously it’s a story, and all stories contain improbable events, but this book doesn’t even attempt to tether itself to the realm of reality, which is great. Assuming you like this kind of stuff. Assuming you don’t overthink it. Assuming you like the book and so are not annoyed by that.
I liked it. In case you haven’t noticed, I liked it very much. It was funny, it was sweet (towards the end), and the guy wasn’t a douchebag (yup, look at those high standards, people). And did I mention it was funny? ...more

The shame.Because A Slight Smile is Very Charming sometimes also knows as Just One Smile is Very Alluring by Gu Man is exactly that. Pure gem.Like, this is the best kind of relationship there is. No angst. No doubts. No drama-lama. Instead, they're sure in their feelings and trust one another. Ah, it's simply a delight.The plot is easy enough.Xiao Nai (the ml) sees Wei Wei (the fl) playing a game online and catches his interes What"s this? I have actually NOT written a review for this pure gem? The shame.Because A Slight Smile is Very Charming sometimes also knows as Just One Smile is Very Alluring by Gu Man is exactly that. Pure gem.Like, this is the best kind of relationship there is. No angst. No doubts. No drama-lama. Instead, they"re sure in their feelings and trust one another. Ah, it"s simply a delight.The plot is easy enough.Xiao Nai (the ml) sees Wei Wei (the fl) playing a game online and catches his interest.Thus he later stalks finds her in the game (since he saw the game she"s playing and her username) and thus their companionship starts. Which slowly goes into friendship and eventually romance.And then they meet up in real life and the love is true indeed XD.Like, this novel has such a refreshing, youthful and clear feeling to it. Just makes you feel all precious and fluffy inside. And me like it not just fine, but soooo much!I found out about this novel when I started watching it"s c-drama adaption titled Love O2O (O2O stands for online to offline, clever, huh?). Which also was delightful thou did add some unnecessary drama/lama, but that"s tv, so...le sigh. The drama was still darn good despite those.All in all, A Slight Smile is Very Charming is a lovely college romance.And the best part, it has plenty of translations floating around the net so those like me who only get to read these c-novels in English can enjoy it as well.Now, onto drama candy XD:
P.S. if someone is not familiar with c-novels and such, be warned, this ain"t your american series where they make out and have sex in every episode. There is kissing but anything further is sort of implied and not explicitly written/shown. ...more

This is a relatively short and sweet love story. I started reading it after watching the TV series that was based off of the book. What really got me hooked to both the novel (and the book) is how much the main couple trust each other. Even though there are several obstacles in the way and people who try to prevent them from being together, they communicate well with each other and get that happy ending. I read this book mostly because I was interested and partially because I wanted to practice This is a relatively short and sweet love story. I started reading it after watching the TV series that was based off of the book. What really got me hooked to both the novel (and the book) is how much the main couple trust each other. Even though there are several obstacles in the way and people who try to prevent them from being together, they communicate well with each other and get that happy ending. I read this book mostly because I was interested and partially because I wanted to practice my Chinese. I found it to be at a pretty reasonable reading level for someone who only took up to Intermediate Chinese in university. ...more
Thankfully, i watched the movie version first. From the movie, i knew that the concept were incredible. And then i watched the drama version which is 98% adapted from the novel. But still, you will find something you can't watched in either the movie or the drama. And now, i will continue to read the manga version lol.I reminded of Itazura Na Kiss actually. Not the plot. But the feeling. The story is so easy, not too much drama, fast and to the point. That's what i like, that's what i like >_ Thankfully, i watched the movie version first. From the movie, i knew that the concept were incredible. And then i watched the drama version which is 98% adapted from the novel. But still, you will find something you can"t watched in either the movie or the drama. And now, i will continue to read the manga version lol.I reminded of Itazura Na Kiss actually. Not the plot.
